The HTC Desire has proved to have been a great choice for me. I have been using mine for a few months now and I am getting very comfortable with using it. I recently performed a factory reset, just for fun, this turned out to be a very good decision because I now have the device set up exactly how I want it.
The applications that I have installed and find most useful are;
- Twicca
- Springpad
- Evernote
- Dropbox
- and Skyfire (a great browser, nice to use)
I think that the installed mail client is limited and I find it a little frustrating that it notifies me of mail I have already read on the PC. The Google Mail client is better, but I don’t use it so often because my Gmail address isn’t currently my main email.
It’s a great phone to talk on, making and taking calls is very simple; the only problem with touch phones is that you can potentially accept a call while removing it from a pocket or case, this hasn’t happened to me yet, luckily!
I do have some minor issues with the signal but this is more of a network or environment problem and can’t be used to judge the handset itself.
I can’t wait for Android 2.2 (Froyo) to be released on Orange in the UK; I look forward to the enhancements it will bring to an already brilliant phone.
If you are still ‘thinking’ of getting yourself an HTC Desire, drop what you are doing now and go and order one!
I have been using the HTC Desire for approximately one week and surprisingly the novelty has not worn off. Usually when I buy a gadget I easily get bored or unimpressed after two days. The Desire is different and I have noticed that for social networking and email I use it more frequently and use my home PC less.
The battery life is pretty much the same as my Sony Ericsson W980, I used to get about a days use and didn't use many of it's features. It would simply drain using 3G and making calls.
Luckily for me the Desire allows me to do a lot more and for this reason I forgive it for needing a daily charge.
I have purchased 2 desktop docks and will be able dock the phone while at home or at work. I am hoping that this will provide benefits, though I am concerned about how the battery will be affected.
I have been trying a number of apps; some for productivity and some for fun. I plan to write a small review of each one of them in the near future. One of the apps I like the most is Evernote and it was used to write this post before I transferred it to my blog. Simply brilliant!
I have been developing this website on behalf of my brother, who owns a driving school. I decided to use WordPress because early in the project I realised that I wanted to provide as many CMS features as possible from day one. A bonus that WordPress provides is that my brother is finding it easy to edit content and that leaves me to do the SEO. FormulaMGH Driving School is an independent driving school based in the North East of England. Operating in Middlesbrough, Thornaby, Stockton, Ingleby Barwick, Yarm and surrounding areas.
